Please note: we work with organisations on workplace, commercial and multi-party matters. We do not provide family or parenting mediation, and we are glad to refer you to trusted family specialists in Sydney.
In Australia's biggest corporate market, workplace conflict comes with high stakes attached: senior salaries, key clients, regulatory exposure and reputations built over decades. Shiv Martin Consulting provides workplace mediation in Sydney for organisations that want disputes resolved before they become resignations, claims or headlines.
Our work in New South Wales spans the corporate and public sectors, from head-office workplace disputes to complaints handling in statutory settings. That mix matters: a mediator who has worked where fairness is formally scrutinised brings a discipline to commercial matters that parties on both sides can trust.
Not every matter needs the same process. Some need mediation, some a facilitated conversation, some an investigation, and some a clear management decision. The first thing you engage us for is the judgement to work out which fits.
How we work in Sydney
We travel to Sydney for mediation days, facilitated sessions and in-house training, working from your offices or a neutral venue. Preparation, the private conversations that set a mediation up to succeed, runs by phone or video in the days before, so the in-person time is spent where it counts.
Secure online mediation carries the same structure and is often the fastest route for single-issue matters or parties in different locations.
Urgent matters can often be scheduled within days. Good process creates safety, and that starts before anyone is in the room.
What Sydney organisations bring to us
Mediation is faster and far less disruptive than court or tribunal processes, it is confidential, and outcomes are practical because the parties built them. Read about our full workplace mediation service.
The mediation process in five stages
For corporate matters, the written record of outcomes can be drafted so it slots into your existing HR processes or contractual arrangements where enforceability is required.
1. Pre-mediation. Suitability assessment, wellbeing check, preparing each participant.
2. Introductions. The mediator's role, opening statements, agenda setting.
3. Exploration. Sharing information, understanding perceptions, unpacking assumptions, relevant law or policy.
4. Private sessions. Confidential check-ins with the mediator to discuss options and shift to a future focus.
5. Agreement. A forward-looking resolution captured in a written record of outcomes and follow-up steps.

Frequently asked questions
Where do Sydney mediations take place?
At your workplace, at a neutral venue arranged for the matter, or online. We travel to Sydney for in-person days and run preparation remotely beforehand, so the process moves quickly once everyone is in the room.
How fast can something be arranged?
Urgent matters can often be scheduled within days, online sooner than in person. The pre-mediation stage is never skipped, but it moves quickly when the situation calls for it.
What does mediation cost?
It depends on complexity, the time involved and whether the matter needs an in-person day in Sydney. Send us a few lines about the situation through the enquiry form and we will come back with the process that fits and the costs, usually within a business day.
Is the outcome legally binding?
Outcomes are usually captured in a written agreement. The agreement itself is a voluntary commitment, but organisations can incorporate outcomes into formal HR processes or contracts where enforceability is required.
Do you provide family mediation in Sydney?
No. Our practice is workplace, commercial and organisational mediation. For family or parenting disputes, we are glad to refer you to experienced family mediators in Sydney.
